Chris attended Kings College London LLB, called to Bar 1990, following which he established Trafalgar Chambers on Fleet Street becoming “the youngest head of chambers in the last century” according to the Sunday Times.
After five years this set merged with another in Inner Temple. During this period Mr Cleverly was a regular presenter on Channel 4 and contributor to the other main channels, radio and newspapers. Since then he has been board member of a number of companies in UK, India, China and Africa both listed and private in a number of sectors. He founded Made In Africa (MIA) to introduce African businesses to international investment and capital markets for the benefit of Africa, It has advised a number of UK plcs on their entrance into Africa. MIA also advises the UK Government on development issues and African governments on investment issues.
In 2007, MIA sold biodiesel business Human Energy (Uganda) Ltd to RIBEC plc. It co-hosted the African Union State banquet in Ghana and the Whitehall conference on growth corridors with DFID. Current large scale projects include largest sustainable real estate urban re-development in East Africa (Naguru Nakawa) and the Trans Sahara Railway.
